What is the wind and snow load rating of your buildings?

Our buildings are engineered for 140 mph wind ratings and 25-35 PSF (pounds per square foot) snow loads, though specifications may vary by manufacturer and your location’s requirements.

What gauge of steel do you use in your buildings?

We offer 14-gauge square metal tubing (2½” x 2½”) as our standard framing material with an option to upgrade to 12-gauge (2¼” x 2¼”) for larger structures. Sheet metal comes in 29-gauge standard with 26-gauge available as an upgrade.

We offer three main roof styles: Regular Horizontal (most economical), A-Frame/Boxed Eave Horizontal, and Vertical (strongest option, recommended for areas with high precipitation or snow).

Can I customize my building with doors, windows, and other features?

Yes, we offer customization options including roll-up doors, entry doors, windows, lean-tos, wainscoting, and various colors. We can also frame out openings if you wish to provide your own doors and windows. Contact Metal America to customize your next big project, or shop all of our standard carports and RV covers!

Do I need a permit for my metal building?

Permit requirements vary by location. We can provide engineered drawings and plans to help with your permit application process after an order is received at no additional cost. Read more on our Permit Requirements page.

How are your buildings anchored?

Buildings are anchored differently based on the installation surface. Concrete installations use wedge anchors, while dirt, gravel, or asphalt installations use rebar or appropriate ground anchors. We determine the proper anchoring method based on your site’s conditions.

Do you offer insulation options?

Yes, we can provide insulation options or work with your contractor to insulate your building. We recommend spray foam insulation as the top choice for metal buildings, with both closed cell and open cell options available.

What are the requirements for my building site?

Your site must be level and free of obstacles prior to installation. You’re responsible for checking for underground pipes, utility lines, or other obstructions. For fully enclosed structures, a concrete foundation is highly recommended.

What colors are available for my metal building?

We offer a wide range of colors for both roof and wall panels. You can choose different colors for the roof, walls, and trim to create a customized look that complements your property.
